Take 5 for the Future -READY TODAY!

Just this past week I have thought of several opportunities that would have enhanced my lessons in Acrylic painting, Watercolor, Studio and the Jewelry classes. How great it would have been to be able to flash some visuals up on the screen (with our new technology), get on Google and pull up resources for the class, etc., etc. Just so much out there......good stuff! Through Art Council and our CAEA (Colorado Art Educators Association) conferences, I have gathered many sources to utilize in the department through my classes. We just did not have the technology equipment within the department to best use this knowledge. I am looking forward to now being able to utilize these resources in a meaningful and timely manner.

Blog for the week - Take 5

I find myself doing "catch up" today as I don't want to get left behind in the dust. Just a little
"hairy" trying to get classes started, dealing with "stuff" and keep up with everything. Duh???
Like all of you don't feel the same also. I have started three of my classes off differently as I anticipate incorporating technology into these classes. We in the Art Department are collaborating on some art resources that we are very excited about. That's a start! Lots to think about when you consider all the ramifications of what Friedman portrays in his book. Not to mention, Karl's presentation at the staff meeting. My mind hurts!

C21 - First session

I could certainly relate to what Ron (Booth) was saying in the staff meeting in regard to all the different approaches we've tried in education over the years. I've been through "sensitivity" training, "ITIPPED", downsized, resized, you name it! I must say, Century 21 makes sense and
is a logical approach to better teaching. I am excited (and a little overwhelmed) and ready to dig in and make some meaningful changes in my classes and how I teach. There's always so much to learn!!! The first session was very well organized, time well spent and presented in a clear
fashion. I was motivated!

Present thoughts about The World is Flat

I am so very excited about being a part of C21. FINALLY the Arts have come into their century!!!! I know that the arts are only part of the picture in the education process, but without them there is a real void. Creativity, cognitive thinking, imgination, etc. are what the Arts are all about. I am presently processing the information presented in the book vs what I have learned over the years as an educator. I want to be careful and not throw out what are "good practices" in this new approach to education. Do I think we need change? Absolutely!!!
I am very excited and looking forward to a "refreshing new" year!
